About PlotMyYard

PlotMyYard started as a tool for one problem: standing in a yard with no idea how many cubic yards of mulch to order, and no easy way to find out.

Every calculator here runs on the same measurement engine, and every formula is shown on the page rather than hidden. If you want to check the math by hand, you can.

Where the numbers come from. Volume math is arithmetic and is exact: a cubic yard is 27 cubic feet, which covers 324 square feet at one inch deep. The parts that are estimates are clearly labeled as estimates — material densities, coverage rates, and compaction allowances all vary by supplier, region, and moisture. Every one of those values is editable, because your supplier's number beats our default.

What it costs. Nothing. There is no account, no email requirement, and no limit on use. The site carries advertising and some links to tools are affiliate links, which is what pays for hosting.

What it is not. It is not engineering advice, and it does not certify anything for code compliance. For structural work, drainage that affects neighboring property, or anything involving a permit, talk to a licensed professional in your area.
